Getting started with SHORTURL ASIA
This guide explains the complete workflow—from preparing a destination URL and creating your first short link to managing links, reading analytics, using QR codes and keeping every destination safe.
Quick start: Paste a complete public HTTP or HTTPS URL, select Shorten link, then copy the result or download its QR code. Registration is optional, but an account makes it easier to keep and manage your links.
1. Choose how you want to use the service
- Guest: Create a short link immediately without registering. Links created in this mode are remembered only in the same browser.
- Free member: Save links to your account, manage them from the dashboard and access them from another supported device after signing in.
- Premium member: Use the features included in the selected package, which may include a custom alias, expiration date, password protection and extended analytics.
Your current package, limits and available features are shown in the member dashboard and on the package page.
2. Prepare a safe destination URL
Use a complete public URL beginning with http:// or https://. HTTPS is recommended whenever the destination supports it.
- Open the destination in your browser first and confirm that it loads correctly.
- Avoid unnecessary redirect chains because they can slow visitors down or trigger a safety review.
- Private network addresses, local addresses, URLs containing embedded usernames or passwords and unsupported ports are rejected.
- Do not shorten the service's own short-link domain or another known shortening service. This prevents redirect loops and hides fewer destination details from visitors.
- Do not use phishing, malware, spam, illegal material or content that infringes another person's rights.
3. Create a link from the homepage
- Open the homepage and find Shorten your link.
- Paste the complete destination URL into the URL field.
- If your account package provides additional controls, open Premium options and configure only the options you need.
- Select Shorten link. The page does not reload; the result appears in the same area.
- Wait for the confirmation that the link is ready before copying or sharing it.
The safety check continues in the background. A new link is available immediately unless the system detects a serious risk.
4. Use the result after shortening
- Copy link: Copies the short URL to your clipboard so it can be pasted into a message, campaign or document.
- Open link: Open the short URL in a new tab to verify the redirect before distributing it.
- QR code: Scan the code with a mobile device or download it as an image for digital and printed material.
- Share: Use the available Facebook, X, LINE or device sharing controls.
- Create another link: Clear the result and return to an empty shortening form.
When advertising is enabled, guests and Free members may see one clearly identified advertisement below the result. Premium members and administrators do not see this placement.
5. View links created without an account
Select My links beside the shortening button. The bottom panel loads links created in the current browser only when you open it. Clearing browser data, using private browsing or changing devices may make these guest links unavailable from this list, although the short URL itself can continue redirecting.
6. Register and keep existing guest links
- Create an account from the same browser used to create the guest links.
- Complete registration and sign in.
- The system attaches eligible guest links from that browser to the new account.
- Open Dashboard → My links and confirm that they are listed.
Create the account before clearing cookies or local browser data if you want to keep access to the guest list.
7. Create a link while signed in
Open Dashboard → Create link. Enter the destination, configure the controls available in your package and submit the form. The result contains the same copy, QR code and sharing tools as the homepage. Links created here belong to the signed-in member automatically.
8. Understand optional link controls
- Custom alias: Choose a readable ending such as campaign-name. It must be unique, use supported letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores and cannot use a reserved system path.
- Expiration date: The link stops redirecting after the selected date and time. Check the date, time and timezone before publishing a time-sensitive campaign.
- Link password: Visitors must enter the correct password before redirection. Use a password that is difficult to guess and send it through a separate trusted channel.
These controls are available only when included in the current package. Existing settings remain subject to package status and service rules.
9. Manage links efficiently
Open Dashboard → My links. The table loads data from the server in pages so it remains responsive when an account contains many links.
- Search by alias or destination URL.
- Sort by newest, oldest, click count or alias.
- Choose how many rows appear on each page.
- Use the copy icon to copy, the external-link icon to open and the manage icon to edit.
- The short-link column displays the alias, while long destinations are shortened visually to keep each row aligned.
10. Read link statuses
- Ready: The link is available and its background check is in progress or has no blocking issue.
- Active or Safe: The destination passed the current checks and the link can redirect normally.
- Needs review: The destination needs an administrator or follow-up check. Review the URL before sharing it further.
- Blocked: Redirection is disabled because the destination violates a safety rule, was confirmed from a report or presents another serious risk.
- Expired: The configured expiration date has passed and the link no longer redirects.
11. Edit or delete a link
Select the manage icon in My links. You can review the alias and current destination, replace the destination and change controls supported by your package. Changing the destination starts a new safety check.
Link deletion appears only when the current package includes it. Deleting a link disables its short URL and should be treated as permanent for any campaign that already uses it. Update campaign materials before deleting a published link.
12. Read analytics
Open Dashboard → Analytics to review totals and recent activity. Depending on available data and package limits, the dashboard can show total clicks, active links, unique visitors, top links, devices, browsers, operating systems, countries and referring websites.
- Select an available date range before comparing performance.
- Use click trends to compare campaign periods rather than relying on a single visit.
- Analytics retention depends on the package. Data older than the retention period may be removed automatically.
- Totals can take a short time to update during high traffic or background processing.
13. Use QR codes correctly
- Download the QR code from the link result before preparing artwork.
- Keep sufficient white space around the code and avoid stretching, cropping or placing it on a low-contrast background.
- Test the final printed size with more than one mobile device.
- The QR code points to the short URL. If you later change the destination, the same QR code continues to use the updated redirect.
14. Report an unsafe or prohibited link
Open Report a link from the Help Center or footer. Enter the short link or alias, choose the most accurate reason and provide concise evidence. Use this form for phishing, malware, spam, fraud, illegal content, privacy violations or another breach of the service rules.
Reports are reviewed by an administrator. Submitting a report does not guarantee immediate removal, but a high-risk destination may be restricted while it is investigated.
15. Manage your account and package
- Use Account settings to update your name, email, password, passkeys and two-factor authentication.
- Use Billing and package to review the current plan, package limits and payment history.
- A paid package becomes available after the payment provider confirms the transaction.
- If a Premium package expires or is cancelled, the account returns to the controls available under its current valid package.
Never share your password, verification code, recovery code or payment credentials with support staff.
16. Change the website language
Use the language selector in the top navigation. Public content uses a language path such as /en/ or /th/, while the default domain entry automatically opens the configured default language. Changing language keeps you within the corresponding section whenever a translated route is available.
17. Troubleshooting checklist
- The destination is rejected: Confirm that it is a public HTTP or HTTPS URL without embedded credentials, private IP addresses, unsupported ports or another shortened URL.
- The short link does not redirect: Check its spelling, status, expiration date and password. Then verify that the destination is still online.
- A guest link is missing from My links: Return to the original browser profile and confirm that cookies or browsing data were not cleared.
- Analytics look incomplete: Check the selected date range and package retention period, then allow a short time for recent activity to process.
- The QR code cannot be scanned: Increase its displayed size, improve contrast and restore clear space around every edge.
- A paid feature is unavailable: Review payment status and package expiry in Billing and package, then sign out and back in if the payment has just been confirmed.
18. Best practices before publishing
- Use a trusted HTTPS destination and verify its content.
- Open the short link in a private browser window and test the complete visitor flow.
- Scan the QR code from the final artwork.
- Use a clear custom alias only when your package provides it.
- Protect sensitive destinations with an appropriate expiration date and password.
- Review analytics and safety status throughout the campaign.
19. Contact support effectively
When you need help, include the short-link alias, the page where the issue occurred, the approximate time, your browser or device and the action you were trying to complete. Do not send passwords, authentication codes, payment card details or other confidential information.
